New York City’s got a better squirt-gun scene than Denver

August 20, 2008 11:54 pm

So not only does NYC get the StreetWars water-fight game this year, they’ve got a practice-round going on Saturday:

Don your scarcest apparel and head to Union Square at 3pm for the NYC Water Gun Fight, a sopping-wet precursor to September 8’s Street Wars, a tourney that lasts three weeks and involves hundreds of gamers. The fracas last blew through New York in 2005—at which time Mayor Bloomberg said organizer Franz Aliquo, a.k.a. the Supreme Commander (pictured here with our cover girls), needed “psychiatric help.” Though the fight is free, it’s BYOG.

And they get photo shoots with women holding squirt guns. Bastards.

So, what does Denver Squirt Gun Association have? Spirit. Spirit, damn right. And a match. Friday. Same place, different time: 6 p.m. Friday. No weaponry? No problem. We’ve got extras. Good, solid extras. Check out this photo gallery from an accidental squirt gun fight last week, where I (Joe, in the blue t-shirt) lay waste to the better-armed Baca and Pantera.

T-minus Friday: DSGA news / stuff

August 4, 2008 9:45 pm

You might not have been here this time last week, but the Denver Squirt Gun Association web site has taken big steps forward since then, thanks to the work of Mat. He also did the logo, and found out that the KMart on 363 S. Broadway has a whole bunch of big supersoaker-style squirt guns on clearance.

Get one before it’s too late.

Same time (5 p.m.), same day (Friday, August 8), same place (near the broom statue by the new wing of the Denver Art Museum, between 12th and 13th Avenues and Broadway and Acoma).

Aug 1st Fight!

Decent turnout and water felt great on a 101* day. Come by next week and join us!
